James Jaber, (CEO/Captain) the founder and visionary of PROP, has been in the boating industry since he was a teenager. James was a key player in the birth and growth of the parasailing industry worldwide, from designing boats and equipment, to starting and operating new businesses. Having co-authored the industry’s best practices regarding safety, which became accepted as the standard for insurance companies and the United States Coast Guard, safety is cornerstone of James’ marine experience. James raced offshore powerboats earning the title of the western division champion and eventually placing 3rd in the world championship in Key West. James has worked in the Maritime industry in the San Francisco Bay since 2012, operating supply vessels from outside the Golden Gate Bridge to the inland waters of the Bay, moving entire crews and large freight to deep draft vessels located in the bay. James is a passionate visionary and will not yield in his dream of being the leading provider of High Speed Ferry Service in the San Francisco Bay market.
Alex Kryska, (Chief of the rest) leverages over 20 years of experience in the areas of Operations and Business Management to support the clients of PROP and the crew that makes PROP excel. Alex’s broad base of experience has given him the tools and skills needed to make critical decision and drive fiscal expectations, all while maintaining excellent relationships with both customer and employees. At PROP, Alex oversees client services and operations management, implementing operating structures to increase service efficiencies and increase employee performance and client satisfaction. Prior to PROP, Alex served in senior business development and operations management positions at a variety of client service-based organizations, including serving as Director of Operations and Business Services for a security services provider to the Transportation Security Administration, managing upwards of 1,000 employees that serve more than 16 million customers annually at San Francisco International Airport. As a graduate the United States Merchant Marine Academy, began his career serving in the maritime industry, working as a ship broker in San Francisco and overseeing the transport of jet fuel for NATO as a fleet manager for Military Sealift Command in Washington, DC. A native of the Bay Area, Alex now lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
Paul Verveniotis, (co-founder) brings a unique wealth of varied experience to PROP. He’s a serial entrepreneur and has been fortunate to be able to have multiple parallel careers in maritime, engineering/construction, and internet/enterprise software companies. Paul began his maritime career as a charter captain in 1979 after attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. For decades he operated charter vessels in the SF Bay and worldwide. Most recently he was responsible for product strategy for a global business unit of Oracle, which he joined through the acquisition of Skire (which he co-founded in 1999). He also was a founding member and principal engineer of a full service engineering firm with offices nationwide. Paul is currently a Division Commander and Qualification Examiner in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he is responsible for training and qualifying boat crews. He is also a registered professional engineer (mechanical) in several western states.
Rob Fyfe, (Founding Member) is an entrepreneur in the San Francisco area. Rob’s previous business pioneered an innovative construction technology that revolutionized the structural strengthening and infrastructure rehabilitation industry beginning in the late 1980’s. He was a key partner in Fyfe Group, LLC whose companies included Fyfe Company LLC and Fibrwrap Construction, Inc., which were both acquired by Aegion Corporation in 2011. In 2011 these companies were the global leaders in structural repair and rehabilitation using composite materials with over 30 offices worldwide and universal name recognition amongst the structural Engineering community. As an example of his work in San Francisco, Rob was involved both the design and implementation of the strengthening and rehabilitation solution for Pier 2 at Fort Mason. He continues to have strong relationships in the Engineering and Maritime construction field in the San Francisco Bay area and looks forward to being a partner for APP in the process of developing an appropriate ferry terminal and service in Seaplane Lagoon, Alameda. Rob also has an MBA from Columbia and UC Berkeley (EMBA Class of 2008.)
Olivier L’abbe (Co-founder) has been leading sales teams in Silicon Valley for the past decade. More recently he was Director of Sales at Fliptop, which was recently acquired by LinkedIn. In this role he ran all aspects of sales from business development, sales enablement, pricing, client acquisition and client retention. He also worked closely with marketing on creating messaging and engineering on developing the product roadmap. Before working in technology Olivier worked for several years in wealth management for UBS and Smith Barney. He graduated from the University of Davis, California with a B.S. in Managerial Economics.
Denise Sandoval As our consulting CFO, Denise brings 20+ years of experience in finance and accounting, mostly in the Silicon Valley, to PROP. Denise is a consultant to start-ups and nonprofits where she is responsible for all aspects of finance, accounting, audit & tax, human resources, and operations. Over the span of her career, she has participated in over $50mm in capital raises and has participated in a number of mergers and acquisitions. She has led finance and accounting teams in both publicly traded and private companies, mainly in the technology space. These companies have included Applied Signal Technology, Inc, (acquired by Raytheon), AccessLan Communications (acquired by Tellabs), Mi5 (acquired by Symantec), and Fliptop (acquired by LinkedIn). Denise has managed multi-million dollar operating budgets, and has been responsible for implementing numerous systems, operational controls, policies and procedures. Denise is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business, with an emphasis in Finance.
Rachelle Chong provides outside legal counsel and strategic consulting for PROP. Rachelle served as a Commissioner of the California Public Utilities Commission from 2006-2009 for Governor Schwarzenegger. She also served as Commissioner of the Federal Communication Commission in 1994-1997, appointed by President Bill Clinton. Rachelle has been advising PROP in obtaining necessary regulatory and local permits for ferry transportation in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. She is a licensed California lawyer, a state registered lobbyist and a regulatory specialist at the CPUC.
